Z. Bhardi Restaurant Review:
Leave it to a guy from Kosovo to trigger the evolution of Italian cuisine in North Florida. Zeke Bhardi, one of the partners behind casual eateries Little Italy and Village Pizza, has created an intimate, near-perfect old-world immersion at this 16-table restaurant complete with stone walls and pergola-shaded outdoor tables. Try one of the homemade raviolis du jour, a selection that might include grouper, wild game or chèvre and pine nut stuffing. Ethereally light lobster gnocchi is also an option. For a main course, veal Carla Maria with mushrooms, garlic and chopped tomatoes in wine sauce offers an update on traditional scaloppine. Dishes change seasonally, but always include classics like lasagna Bolognese and mussels marinara, as well as rustic bruschettas and tapenades.
