Zafron Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Chef/owner Peter Teimori dropped the name Flavor Bakery Café in favor of Zafron Restaurant to focus on Persian food. Classic openers range from fava bean-based hummus to those yogurt-centered. Eggplant appears in a variety of starters as well. Kebabs, wraps and sandwiches fill out the lunch fare. The larger, pricier dinner menu repeats many of the same offerings, buts adds lamb, seafood and chicken in starring roles, although the grass-fed beef is butter tender and shows good flavor. Cornish hen was tasty but could have been cooked a bit less. Vegetarians will find a stew and a kebab. Teimori is classically trained and spent time in the south of France, so dessert swings toward French options with Persian accents such as pistachio and saffron. The pistachio ice cream sandwich is a winner. The wine list is composed of familiar labels, but could use more rosés, which are perfect with this food. A short beer list also is available, but no spirits. The interior’s modern design creates a comfortable atmosphere with lots of banquette and booth seating.
