Zeus Gallery Cafe Restaurant Review:
Zeus Gallery Café caters to an affluent crowd who enjoy the restaurant’s funky church pew décor (booths with black and white checkered tabletops have cheeky labels with Clare Luce and Loose Tooth as favorites) and intimate see-the-kitchen setting. With the cooks operating within feet of any one table, patrons can watch the show as elements of each meal are juggled around and arranged artfully for presentation. The seasonal menu changes often and might suggest such dishes as poached pear salad; veal and ricotta meatballs with linguine; house-made gnocchi with brown butter; red snapper with coconut and yellow curried couscous, red Swiss chard and citrus vinaigrette; or fried oysters with spicy sambal mayo. Baked beef tenderloin meatloaf proves its merit with grill marks and comforting accompaniments of mashed potatoes and red pepper relish. A dessert of beignets with macerated strawberries, alone, elucidates Zeus’ popularity and why an expansion was necessary to net a few extra tables, and big ones at that.
