Zona 78 Restaurant Review:
Zona 78 was in the forefront of the wood-fired pizza scene in Tucson and continues to produce notable pies. The Tuscany pizza combines house-made sausage, kalamata olives, onions, garlic, basil, fennel, portobello mushrooms and mozzarella, while meat-lovers can order the Pizza Boy with plenty of pepperoni, salami, mozzarella and the house rustic sauce. During happy hour enjoy the antipasto platter served on a wood cutting board and presenting a bountiful blend of house-cured meats, several types of cheeses, peppers in various forms, olives, grilled vegetables and something resulting from the chef’s whim. Another starter we like is the Brussels and Bacon: roasted baby sprouts with bacon agrodolce. There is a daily grilled cheese at lunch and rainbow trout at dinner. The wine menu is heavy on Italian labels, but prices are most reasonable.
