Clif Family Winery
2008 "Kit's Killer Cab" Cabernet Sauvignon

Napa Valley, CA

Clif Family Winery was founded by Kit Crawford and Gary Erikson of Clif Bar fame. A cycling enthusiast, Gary wanted to settle in the picturesque Napa Valley and selected Howell Mountain as the site for Clif's vineyards and farm. Caring for the land is an important aspect of the Clif philosophy. As part of its mission, Clif is working toward a neutral footprint. The winery currently produces three lines of wines: the wallet-friendly Climber label, Wines with a Story and a line of classic Napa Wines. The 2008 Kit's Killer Cab is one of those Napa Wines, designed to showcase the best of Napa climate and terroir. The aromas of the 2008 are of bright, tart cranberry and pomegranate as well as a hint of worn saddle leather. Red fruits dominate on the palate, including cranberry and red currant with black cherry toward the middle and back of the palate. Extremely bright in its flavor profile for a Napa Valley Cab, a combination of tart acidity and chewy tannins dominate the structure. Pair the wine with a rich lamb curry, sausage stew or a plate of hard cheeses like cheddar and pecorino.
