Pinot Gris, also called Pinot Grigio, is a grayish-blue grape that originated in Burgundy. It is at its peak flavor when grown in Alsace, France, where the variety produced is extremely dry, with rich notes of peach, apricot, tropical fruits and spices, and a honeyed, floral bouquet. The grape has also been successfully grown in Oregon, where it thrives, producing a light to medium-bodied dry wine, with notes of peach, pear and apple.
