Amante 1530 Amaro Liqueur Cocktails
Amante 1530, a great amaro liqueur
Let’s get straight to the point: Amante 1530 is a better version than the amaro liqueur brands we are familiar with (no names, you can most likely guess).
The inception of Amante 1530 happened in the romantic region of Tuscany, Italy — therefore “Amante,” which means “lover” in Italian. Friends were sitting in the gardens of Il Palagio 1530 — therefore “1530.” After a few glasses of wine, produced from the Palagio’s vineyards, came the idea of making a more subtle version of amaro, less bitter, less sugary.
They called upon famed oenologist Riccardo Cotarella, renowned in the Italian wine industry. The result is a liqueur boasting Italian citrus, ginger and honeysuckle notes. Amante 1530 is produced at Pallini Distillery, one of Rome’s oldest and most prestigious distilleries.
Having tasted Amante 1530, I can attest that it is an exquisite and vibrant liqueur that is as bold as it is unique. It hits the tongue lean and unfolds across the palate with a variety of bitter citrus elements and a medium-bodied weight. Amante 1530’s orange color is inspired by the color of sunset, reminiscent of the Italian golden hour.
Sophie’s note: If Amante 1530 mixes well with cocktails, it is delicious neat, served alone at room temperature.
> Amante 1530 retails at $34.99, and is bottled at 15% ABV.
