Father’s Day in the United States was first proposed in 1909, and later made official by President Richard Nixon, who in 1972 signed a proclamation establishing Father’s Day permanently on the third Sunday in June nationwide. It is also celebrated in many parts of the world (though not as popular as Mother’s Day, created in 1914).
