Classy Kirkland steakhouse with quality cuts served amid a 1890s saloon-style setting.
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED 21 Central Restaurant Review:
This intimate steakhouse is a welcome alternative to glitzy, mega steak joints that tend to dominate the Eastside. Lush furnishings and touches of leopard-print fabric lend a 1890s San Francisco saloon ambience to the softly lit room and its high-backed booths. Although the focus is on aged Prime steaks and chops cooked in a 1,800-degree broiler, the seafood offerings are quite good too, notably angel hair pasta tossed with scallops, crab and prawns in a silky vodka and chive cream sauce. Tired of ordering expensive à la carte sides to accompany a naked steak? Entrées at 21 Central come with a choice of potato (buttermilk mashed, baked, or rosemary fries) or sliced tomatoes as a side with steak mains. An ideal dinner might include oysters Rockefeller, a Roquefort-dressed New York strip or Australian lobster tails in Champagne butter sauce. Service is polished yet friendly.
