THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED 212 Restaurant & Bar Restaurant Review:
It’s always been a challenge to find a good, mid-range priced meal on the Upper East Side---thankfully, 212 provides just that. The menu also bridges the gap between European and Asian flavors. The wealth of options on the menu extends to the size of the courses; occupying the middle ground between appetizers and entrées are crowd-pleasing dishes like seafood plates and pizzettas. Entrées are protein heavy and mostly for those committed to a big meal. Start with the creamy feta and tomato salad with pine nuts and pesto vinaigrette, the warm goat cheese salad, or the beef carpaccio with spicy olive oil and shaved asparagus. Then move on to the steamed shrimp dumplings with ponzu dipping sauce, or the oysters on the half shell. Standout main dishes include baked tilapia Provençal with olives, oregano and steamed asparagus; and the 212 sirloin burger a la plancha.
