Deeply roasted spices power the masalas at this Indian denizen in Columbia.
THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Akbar Restaurant Review:
Like fraternal twins, the two Akbars share the same menu, but have different personalities. More extroverted than its mild-mannered urban sibling, the Columbia location pumps up the volume, using deeply roasted spices in its masalas. Standards like roghan josh or paneer, the house-made cheese, in a thick tomato curry spiked with cilantro are always crowd-pleasers, but for an intriguing taste treat try the chicken chaat, a refreshing appetizer roused with mango powder and tamarind sauce. Akbar's kulfi falooda, an iced dessert of sweetened milk infused with ground pistachios and a hint of rosewater, makes for a fine ending to a good meal. A well-stocked lunch buffet is available daily, and both Akbars offer full-service catering.
