THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Alice's Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Nestled in the pines at the Gold Lake Mountain Resort & Spa, this rustic restaurant is set in a historic log lodge with a striking stone fireplace and large windows that look across a high-mountain meadow. The smooth birch tables, surrounded by substantial old hickory chairs, are well-spaced to allow for private conversation. Nothing elaborate, just comfortable. Start with artichoke soup or a roasted portobello with shaved truffle beurre blanc. A four-grain risotto with roasted tomatoes and asparagus is smooth and rich. The duck breast is crispy on the outside and moist inside. A warm, flourless chocolate cake is served with caramelized bananas. The kitchen uses organically-grown produce, much of it from local growers, free-range chicken and hormone-free beef. Choose a prix-fixe three-course or five-course dinner or order off the menu. The versatile chef is more than accommodating to vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diners.
