THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Amici Mare Restaurant Review:
Architect Hagy Belzberg (Pagani) did a makeover of the former Irish restaurant Gillilands, turning it into a handsome modern setting for a spin-off of the cozy, celebrity hideout Trattoria Amici in Beverly Hills. The menu is the same---flavorful Northern Italian cuisine with most entrée prices under $15. Specialties include succulent whole grilled baby chicken and tantalizing pastas. What Amici Mare has over its big sister besides looks, however, is a full bar, a big back patio, art rented from LACMA and a wood-burning oven, out of which come crisp-crusted pizzas, juicy steaks and even whole roasted fish.
