THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Amuse! Restaurant Review:
Enter the warmly lit bar with its adjacent upholstered seating area and you might decide to linger there after dinner over coffee and Cognac and enjoy Edith Piaf on the sound system. Chef Noelle Thomas offers an appealing, well-priced menu. Starters include a charcuterie or cheese plate, mussels, French onion soup and foie gras, although we think the latter is too heavily covered with a red wine reduction sauce. The best meal deal among the mains is the coq au vin, half a chicken with vegetables in a well-seasoned broth. Other French touches include a hanger steak with house-made fries and duck two ways (confit and breast). House-made desserts showcase lovely (if over-embellished) crème brûlée and chocolate mousse under a whipped cream cloud. Brunch offers such dishes as a crab cake Benedict, eggs Meurette (poached in red wine), or croque madame or monsieur. The eclectic wine list offers good choices by the glass. Daily deals like half-off appetizers on Tuesdays bring the foie gras treat down to eight bucks.
