THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Angus Club Steakhouse Restaurant Review:
Angus Club quietly cooks up above-average steaks in Midtown East, its sedate dining room a venue for meat-loving goodness. The menu doesn’t deviate from the usual steakhouse formula. Nor does it have to. Start with tuna tartare, pan-seared crab cakes or rich roasted bone marrow before moving on to the main event: the very good bone-in rib-eye and the huge double-cut veal chop are worth a look, but first-timers should go straight for the porterhouse. It comes with just the right amount of char and crispiness on the outside and tenderness on the inside --- so much so that the servers often demonstrate it by cutting a piece with a spoon. There are non-steak options, of course --- grilled salmon, lobster tails --- but when the steak is this good it would be carnivore heresy to get anything else. Pair the meat with tried and true sides like creamed spinach or truffled mac and cheese. The wine list is long and offers a handful of options by the glass. End the meal with red velvet cake or New York cheesecake.
