Son Ryan took over Anita’s after mother Lori and father Michael Tellez retired, and it remains one of the only places in OC to offer truly authentic New Mexican food. The family continues the tradition of importing chilies from Las Cruces and their sopaipillas are the true, fluffy variety. Some of the biggest sellers are the carne adobada with pork, marinated for 24 hours in a New Mexican chile sauce; sopaipillas stuffed with pork and a green chile sauce; and Santa Fe enchiladas made with blue corn tortillas. Desserts include apple-cinnamon burritos and mini sopaipillas served with chocolate dipping sauce and honey.
