THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Annabelle's Bar & Bistro Restaurant Review:
Restaurants in touristy areas often get a bad rap --- but occasionally there’s an unexpected gem in the rough. Such is the case with Annabelle’s Bar & Bistro, which offers solid bistro fare just steps away from the Metreon, Moscone Center and Westfield shopping center. The restaurant sports a simple interior, with a Belle Epoque bar, black-and-white tile floors and sage-green subway tiles that add a spot of color. The service is much warmer than at most convention-area restaurants. The food is all-American with a few French accents. Paper-thin beef carpaccio gets just the right amount of brightness from lemon aïoli. A plate of steak frites, while maybe a touch too salty, is ultimately satisfying, while a whole roasted branzino is flaky and well-prepared. Annabelle’s doesn’t disappoint with its desserts, either, and offers a fine selection of wines by the glass. Expect to share the restaurant with suits and visitors to the city, but you’ll be pleased with your meal.
