In spite of the very visible sushi bar and the rice paper lampshades, it’s easy to get the feeling that long before seaweed and rice were rolled and wrapped in this venue, the kitchen was spooning out lots of chow mein. Maybe it’s the tall maroon booths that give the dark interior a ’50s Chinese-restaurant look. But today, Atami is a favorite for sushi, and the fish is fresh, the knives sharp, and the sushi chefs busy. Prices are quite reasonable. Vegetarians and those who like Vietnamese food also get some menu choices.
