THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES Avanzare Restaurant Review:
In one of downtown Tampa's best-known---and tallest---hotels, Avanzare has a tough line to walk. It serves breakfast to its hotel customers and a few downtown business people who can't resist the smoked salmon on a bagel, with cream cheese, tomato, onion and capers. It offers lunch to a mostly business or convention crowd, and then an upscale, somewhat classy evening meal. The dinner menu offers appetizers such as portobello mushrooms in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and herbs de Provence served with oak leaf lettuce, and chicken ravioli stuffed with sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes and peas. Entrées include shrimp pasta served with sea scallops in a white wine-pesto butter sauce over cappellini, and potato-crusted salmon. There is also a New York steak marinated in brown beer and molasses. Desserts are a mixture of chocolate, ice cream and cheesecake. Certainly, if you're downtown and looking for dinner, this is an easy and rewarding walk through the hotel lobby.
