Circle Sushi Restaurant Review:
Since 1998, Circle Sushi has offered an extensive menu that lists the usual inventive rolls (consider vegetarian rolls and a cucumber-wrapped roll for avoiding carbs, too). But put your betting money on the sashimi, especially the white tuna. Combination plates allow diners to choose a roll to accompany sashimi. Appetizers present some fine options, such as scallop carpaccio with a house vinaigrette and a tangle of sprouts. Optional additions to many of the mains include miso soup that seems less salty than at other establishments, and a salad of fresh greens with a tangy and fresh-tasting dressing. Bento boxes are deals, and there's a selection of udon. Circle Sushi's green tea has an intriguing taste, somewhat toasty and nutty. Check out the green tea mousse with red bean topping for dessert; house-made, it's unusual and compelling in its restrained sweetness. Expect a decent saké list, some good beers and not much in the way of wine. All-in-all, this is a decently priced, satisfying entry into the world of Japanese cooking.
