Sears Fine Food Restaurant Review:
With its heyday long past, Sears is now a San Francisco institution, populated by a mix of elderly neighbors, local office workers who like the old-school atmosphere (and prices to match) and tourists out to relive a childhood trip. Clanking cable cars chug past the demure entrance, which has been known to have a line on weekend mornings. Once inside, take in the Formica counters, swivel stools, muted pinks and grays, and waitresses in '50s-style uniforms. The menu is filled with dishes such as chicken clubs, mounds of cottage cheese in melon and egg salad dished out with an ice cream scoop. Still, Sears may be best known for its silver-dollar Swedish pancakes.
