THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bar Stuzzichini Restaurant Review:
Bar Stuzzichini, helmed by Paul di Bari (formerly of Wallsé) and pastry chef and co-owner Carolyn Renny, serves Italian-style tapas in a sleek space in the Flatiron. The bustling interior is simple and unadorned, save for the marble-topped bar, where diners can grab a glass of wine and nibble to their hearts’ content. The wine list is all-Italian and the bartenders do not skimp on the pours for single glasses. Stuzzichini (the Italian term for tapas) are grouped by category. Order à la carte or take one from each category for a set price---a good value when it includes items like fried artichokes, steamed clams and prosciutto di Parma. The kitchen also turns out entrées: the mafaldine napoletana, a pork ragù and ricotta dish, and bari-style braised rabbit, are both standouts. As a date spot in a neighborhood that is lacking in quiet nooks for drinks and a light meal, Bar Stuzzichini is a winner.
