HURRICANE KATRINA: this establishment is currently closed. For a New Orleans Travel Update as well as resources, information and help click here. The pattern at Barreca's---heavily sauced and seasoned pasta, veal and seafood dishes---was set by previous generations of this local restaurant family. The menu and specials board in the several dining rooms hold bounteous versions of pasta with local seafood in cream, a crab soup studded with kernels of corn, and such fish preparations as grilled amberjack with puréed yams and pecan and marshmallow bits. The neighborhood regulars love them all.
