THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Beach House Cafe Restaurant Review:
Beach House Café, with a relaxed atmosphere and windows dominating its white façade, recalls a quaint seaside retreat. Only the avenue view and the absence of sand beneath your feet keep you anchored in Old Greenwich. The Oval Bar's sky-blue and pale sea foam hues, enhanced by a smattering of grassy marsh plants, further the shoreline motif, while black-on-white cushions and murals add vaguely urban touches to the dining room. The menu follows suit, keeping the contemporary coastal American fare invitingly simple. Begin with a refreshing, citrusy avocado and grapefruit salad. Or explore the fruits of the sea with a seafood Cobb salad. Grilled salmon is simply prepared and enhanced by the salty flavors of the sun-dried tomatoes that accompany the dish. It is not all about sea fare, however; a lemon peppered chicken gyro provides a nice twist on the traditional Greek taco, while the beach burger hits a hearty spot. Of course, as befitting a beach house, there are plenty of fruity cocktails to be had, and the well-rounded wine list advertises many affordable bottles to complement the fare.
