Its sleek design, innovative menu and location on a busy corner in midtown Sacramento make Bistro 33 one of the hottest places to see and be seen. The décor is ultra modern, with stainless steel and black-and-white accents. The dining room itself is rather small, creating an illusion of exclusivity, and allowing for the requisite elbow-rubbing late at night. The menu in no way takes a backseat to the ambience however, with a wide selection of inspired small plates, salads and sandwiches. Small plates include empanadas with chorizo and manchego cheese and carnitas street tacos; sandwiches include lamb sliders with caramelized onion fig jam and a roasted chicken and smoked mozzarella panino; while mains include grilled skirt steak with rum butter and a pan-roasted half chicken with wilted lemon spinach. Come early on weekends for breakfast and try the french toast or breakfast quesadilla with smoked pepperjack cheese.
