THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Bistro Lamazou Restaurant Review:
Birthed from the decades-old Murray Hill cheese shop of the same name a block away, this spacious, high-ceilinged restaurant focuses on the Mediterranean. Specifically, there seems to be more emphasis on the southern portion of the region. Snails, for example, get the Moroccan treatment, encased in puff pastry and doused in garlic and paprika. The roasted beet salad arrives stacked high, a presentation so lovely one questions ruining it with a fork. The Couscous Royal, a plate heaping with chicken, lamb, roasted vegetables and, of course, couscous, is a serving big enough for two. There’s a small selection of pastas for diners seeking to stick to the northern Mediterranean, such as a passable spaghetti all’arrabbiata. The wine list has some decently priced selections, including some options by the glass from Tunisia and Morocco.
