THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Butterfly Mission Restaurant Review:

The once groundbreaking fusion restaurant-lounge with nightly live music and a pulsing, club-like scene has been transformed since the original Butterfly restaurant has been moved to Pier 33 on the Embarcadero. The stylish urban dining room looks the same with its multitude of brightly-colored modern chairs, koi fish pool and large windows that look out onto Mission Street. Asian-inspired cocktails like the lemongrass mojito and a cucumber vodka and saké martini still rule the bar and are worth a visit. A DJ station is now permanently set up where the live bands used to reside. But the biggest change may be in the menu. Chef Lam now serves up a small plates menu divided up into Ocean, Garden, Land, and Noodle sections and inspired by his mother's North Vietnamese cooking. Try the fried calamari dipped in a spicy garlic sauce or a bowl of lemongrass-curried chicken paired up with slices of French bread. Meat eaters will enjoy the shaking beef mixed up with watercress and caramelized onions and the baby back ribs glazed with chili and hoisin sauce. The ten noodle dishes offer any palate a pleasing combination.
