Cafe Cortina Restaurant Review:
Adrian Tonon, son of founders Rina and the late Adriano Tonon, took over this well-established family restaurant after the death of his father. It has carried on seamlessly with a menu of Veneto-inspired dishes served in a romantic setting. The table by the fireplace is particularly sought after, so snag it when you can. A former apple orchard is now the venue’s garden; in season, it supplies much of what makes it to the plates, including tomatoes, rapini, eggplant, peppers and zucchini as well as herbs. In addition to solid veal and pasta selections, expect sautéed scampi with tomatoes and extra-fine spaghetti; organic, free-range chicken Piccanti with lemon and white wine; and spinach lasagna with ricotta, Asiago and house-made Veneto blush sauce. For dessert, go for the wild berry granite. Try such cocktails as the Mandarino, with vodka, pomegranate liquor and fresh-squeezed tangerine juice; or a Capri blending Ciroc, dry vermouth and caper juice.
