California Pizza Kitchen Restaurant Review:
While pizzas in all their possible permutations originally defined this place, diners now have many more options at California Pizza Kitchen. "New" appears next to many menu items, from chickens Milanese, piccata and Marsala to pan-sautéed salmon, all decent entrées. A clever salad is the Miso, a mix of napa cabbage, avocado, edamame, green onions and more, all under a slightly sweet miso dressing. Crab cakes---several nicely-cooked discs of seemingly pure crab meat---offer a good start, crispy on the outside and well-cooked inside; the salsa with corns, beans and onions provides a spicy kick. And the sautéed salmon should satisfy any hungry diner with its mound of caper-dressed pasta and a pile of grilled asparagus on the side. But don't skip the pizzas, whether the signature "original BBQ chicken" or creations like the mango tandoori chicken or the Cajun. If space is available, look to the dessert menu for the white chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, Key lime pie and tiramisu.
