THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Catalan Food & Wine Restaurant Review:
The menu is full of playful titles like “Small Greens,” “Chef’s Playground” and “Big Plates.” Start with lavender and local honey house-cured salmon. The lavender adds a gentle flavor to the salmon while the honey sweetens the treat. The traditional gazpacho soup includes locally grown tomatoes. Next up is filet la plancha with an addictive anchovy butter, accompanied by whipped potatoes. While we sip a little wine, the toughest decision quickly approaches---what we will choose for dessert. Opt for the Texas peach soufflé gratin with ginger ice cream, a blueberry crêpe with honey parfait, or the banana milkshake alongside a stack of warm chocolate chip cookies. All are a fine finish to a first-rate meal. Catalan is known for offering quality wines by the glass as well as the bottle. Our choice by the glass is a 1999 San Leonardo.
