THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Citizen Restaurant Review:
Were nutty about the simplistic, Japanese-style décor at this newcomer to the Dallas scene, where Asian food, from sushi and sashimi to Thai-style lobster ceviche to miso-glazed salmon, rules. The restaurant is mainly black and white, with dashes of color like the purple-shaded lamps at the bar and the waitstaffs green shirts. The black cod with a blond miso sauce on the dinner menu has hordes of fans, but we like Citizen best at lunch, when we order a lot of little plates of food, and share everything, chopsticks flying. The chefs inventiveness especially comes through in one knock-out of an appetizer-greens topped with chopped applewood-smoked bacon, scallops, and a red onion/jalapeño jam. The dessert list, too, is cleverly done---where else do you see coconut cream soufflé or wonton Napoleans? Now, if only the service could measure up to the food and the décor...
