THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ciudad Restaurant Review:
This is the premier spot for modern Mexican cuisine in Dallas. Start with a couple of bocadillos (appetizers), among which our favorites are the ceviche, a chunky mix of octopus, conch and shrimp in a vanilla-infused pineapple salsa; and the pork barbacoa taco with a rich tropical-fruit salsa. You won't find any enchilada-taco-chalupa combo plates on the menu, but you will find many clever and always well-executed dishes. In the mood for a hefty dinner? Try the roasted pork tenderloin served with seared sweet potatoes and crunchy poblano strips with a tangy cilantro sauce drizzled on top. For something lighter, try the delightful Mariscos à la Veracruzana, a mix of fresh seafood with a piquant tomato sauce over rice. Or, as we usually end up doing, make an evening of it with several bocadillos and a couple of top-shelf margaritas. The restaurant is divided into two parts---the casual, bar-oriented, bocadillo-nibbling side with music on the weekends; and the main dining room, for a full-on Ciudad experience. When the weather cooperates, the patio is one of the prettiest places to dine in Dallas.
