THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Cooker Restaurant Review:
The Cooker answers the call for great food in an atmosphere more sophisticated than other bar and grills. Its not quite a stuffy steak house, but its light years ahead of such chains as Bennigans and Chilis. For an appetizer, try the fried green tomatoes, a tasty version of the Southern-fried favorite. Dinner standouts include the slow-cooked pot roast, said to roast for eight hours, and the Hawaiian steak, a top sirloin steak marinated in teriyaki sauce and topped with grilled pineapple. The optional side salad is a large and unusually good accompaniment to your meal. Vegetarians should love the roasted portobello grill, a sandwich served on a focaccia bun with a large marinated roasted mushroom, zucchini, red peppers and sautéed onions, topped with melted mozzarella cheese. The menu also matches appropriate wines to your entrée, a nice touch for the vintage-impaired.
