THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cooper's Tavern Restaurant Review:
Set in the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel across the street from Madison Square Garden, this gastropub-like eatery draws in the burger lovers for its 12-ounce “Skyscraper Burger,” a hamburger made tall by a thick slice of tomato, fried onions and smoked Gouda with an upright knife stuck in the center. Though the blond wood and leather-clad booths manage to give the interior a slightly generic feel, settle in and take in a menu that serves up hearty cuisine with worldly flair. The crunchy crab cake sitting atop julienne vegetables and the pastry-wrapped lobster make for refreshing starters. Generously sized entrées include Berkshire pork chops and fish ‘n’ chips. But the large short rib accompanied by mashed parsnips and a savory horseradish sauce and the inventive falafel-encrusted salmon are menu standouts.
