Din Tai Fung Restaurant Review:
Some grumble about the prices going up at this imported Taiwanese stalwart where the décor is clean but otherwise unexceptional. However, the lines continue to snake out the front door at the reliable dim sum and noodle eatery that has also expanded onto mainland China and even the U.S., so they must be doing something quite right. These 'rights' would definitely include the signature xiao long bao pork dumplings in soup, as well as the hot, crisp spring rolls that diners can be seen popping into their mouths, one after another. The list of noodle choices is as long as a noodle strand itself, but we like the dan dan noodles in a mild curry sauce, definitely a better choice than the shrimp noodles in broth that tastes a little plain. Rely on the informed if harried waitstaff and come prepared to wait around 30 minutes for a table at peak times. Skip dessert in favor of more dumplings, including seasonal specialties and those with unexpected fillings like foie gras. Other locations.
