Doneraki features a nightly wandering mariachi band. They are topnotch, but require decent tipping and will force conversations to shouting-level. It requires lots of concentration to review the huge menu, which includes everything from a simple taco dinner; to Mexican specialties like breaded and fried tender steak or marinated quail with garlic sauce; to the traditional chile relleno stuffed with cheese, chicken or beef. But regulars usually come back for just a few favorites, namely the tacos al carbon del trompo and the chips and queso. Service can be hit-and-miss, and the margaritas have proved inconsistent.
