THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Dos Madres Cantina Restaurant Review:
A salt-rimmed margarita gets things off on the right foot at Dos Madres Cantina. Then it's time to enjoy chef Jorge Yzaguirre's fresh-tasting Mexican cooking. Carne asada comes piled onto a flatbread, filling a pair of tacos or as the centerpiece of a substantial plate. Although fajitas are a Tex-Mex dish of rather recent origin, they are popular today in Mexican restaurants. We like the version with shrimp, which are cooked just until done and brought to the table atop sautéed peppers and charred cherry tomatoes. Choose either corn or flour tortillas that are grilled and have a slight char. For dessert, go for the flan, although it's most like a pudding rather than a custard. Tres leches cake and churros also are offered, although the cake often is unavailable. There’s a decent wine list but the brews are a better deal with the food. Note that the noise level can get loud.
