THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Dumpling House Restaurant Restaurant Review:
This part of the San Gabriel Valley is filled with dumpling houses, which are among the best dining values around. While this eatery falls far short of the mastery found at Arcadia’s famed Din Tai Fung, its dumplings and noodle dishes are more attractively priced. The menu is extensive, but be sure to order at least a couple plates of dumplings, such as the steamed shrimp with Chinese chives, fried pork or boiled chicken-and-mushroom version. A great accompaniment is a surprisingly delicate onion pancake ideal for dipping into chili-infused vinegar. The pancake reappears in a stir-fry dish with pork and vegetables. A single bowl of noodle soup is large enough for a satisfying lunch (be sure to tuck your necktie away), and kung pao chicken and spicy pork tripe are offered for entrées---there’s even a sweet-and-sour pork dish suiting less adventurous American palates. The service is pleasant and accommodating at this Temple City hangout.
