THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED The Dupont Circle area, where Dupont Grille is located in the lobby area of a hotel, must delight in having a really upscale eatery situated in a casual setting with glass doors-as-walls that let the inside out, and vice versa. It's ideal for the people-watching that is part of Dupont Circle life; and the menu is ideal for those who want to sample cuisine culled from France, Spain and Asia with an overlay of Southern charm. With all that the menu has to offer, we head straight to the steak frites, a grilled, tender cut of steak surrounded by hot and thick fries---not the standard thin shreds that usually accompany this dish. All this may be preceded by the quite unusual tangle of crunchy fried squid speckled with lemon zest, complementing the lemony aïoli. As for desserts, you may find such confections as a cranberry-white chocolate bread pudding or a warm chocolate cake---it all depends on the season.
