Eating House 1849 Restaurant Review:
Spacious and serene in its palm tree-shaded, second-story home with a softly hued interior, this restaurant created by celebrity chef Roy Yamaguchi, and with executive chef Krizpin Oades, replaces the southside Roy’s with a new locale and menu. Billed as “plantation cuisine,” the food pays tribute to Hawaii’s multi-cultural heritage with such selections as a hapa burger fashioned from local beef and wild boar, a hot pot rice bowl, crispy whole snapper, ramen, steaks and even some Mexican choices. Or craft a tapas meal from huli huli style spicy pork belly, pork and shrimp potstickers, a salmon-ahi poke and other creative pupu. The full bar offers specialty craft beers, a thoughtful wine list, and signature cocktails to complement your meal. The food is fresh, inventive and filling, the setting is relaxed and airy, and the service is topnotch.
