Elio's Restaurant Review:
For decades, the Who's Who of the Upper East Side, including a host of television personalities, have been crowding into this neighborhood restaurant for solid Italian fare. The wait for a table can seem endless, but the room is animated and welcoming, encircled as it is by globe lights, wood paneling and wainscoting. Think of Elio's as Elaine's with good food: shrimp-and-white-bean salad, spaghetti and veal done lots of ways. The fish varies daily, but is always cooked well, especially the simple Dover sole. And the desserts are a notch above the usual Italian restaurant fare; if lemon tart is available, take advantage of the opportunity.
