THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Esparza's Tex-Mex Cafe Restaurant Review:
Before you order any food at this Tex-Mex eatery, you'll notice the décor: hanging marionettes, vintage signage, plus a selection of taxidermy and animal skulls. The distraction value of the scenery makes it a good choice for families; young children (and their parents) will also appreciate the hot, homemade chips plus zippy red salsa that promptly arrives at the table. Anything prepared with one of the house-smoked meats --- brisket, buffalo, turkey, pork loin and wild boar --- is a treat. From the cornmeal-dusted fried cactus to the tacos, everything on the menu boasts in-your-face assertive flavors. The huge enchilada selection goes far beyond the ordinary. On weekends, try the special of pork loin with fresh chile verde. The bar is well-stocked, but for a Texas-style joint, the margaritas are strangely watery.
