Flat Rock Eats & Drinks' owner Colin Franke named the restaurant after the reef that sits off Cardiff Beach. It’s a relaxed and casual place, appropriate for families seeking a night out or hungry surfers after a good session in the Big Blue. The menu features American/California cuisine with plenty of healthy options with gourmet touches, as well as hearty fare for big appetites. Braised duck flautas are served in roasted red pepper cream sauce; a lamb burger comes with feta and arugula. Veggie and quinoa tacos please the vegetarian crowd. Other options include bratwurst on a pretzel bun, jerk chicken, organic salads, and a selection of craft beer and wine. Flat Rock is also a breakfast joint serving tasty sausage scrambles, bacon and banana pancakes, huevos rancheros and a lobster Benedict. Friendly service adds to the laid-back vibe.
