An unlikely combination of hot Szechwan cooking and American jazz or folk, Genghis Cohen endures as a hip Hollywood hangout.
Genghis Cohen Restaurant Review:
The consciously hip have long gathered here for creative Chinese cooking in a sleek and contemporary setting, with an adjoining Music Room that has evolved into a good venue for live jazz and folk music. The pan-fried dumplings are meaty and juicy; we also like the three-flavor moo shu, filled with shrimp, chicken and pork. Many of the Szechwan dishes pack some real heat, which contributes to the popularity of cocktails like the "Dragon's Breath" and the "Tropical Monsoon." For larger plates, it's worth sharing items like the crispy half duck, whole catfish in a brown garlic sauce, and the tom tom chicken cooked with asparagus, snow peas and peanuts.
