THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Gershwin's Restaurant Review:
A neighborhood favorite for more than two decades, Gershwin's has a menu to fit its rather swanky décor. It has long been a great steak and fancy burger joint, but chef Jesse Moreno-Valle brings a more ambitious approach to the food. You can get the famous mushroom soup, a super-rich, creamy concoction filled with meaty chunks of mushroom; but look for more adventurous starters like a clever tuna sashimi and avocado timbale topped with gleaming drops of bright coral caviar. The rack of lamb is a treat; juicy and cooked just past medium rare, it's carved tableside and served with a medley of potatoes and piquant goat cheese sauce. Lunch boasts a juicy Kobe beef burger, which you should be sure to order medium rare for maximum flavor. Desserts change regularly and whichever chocolate concoctions are on the list are usually the best bets.
