THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Globe Restaurant Review:
This vast, mod and lively place to meet, eat and drink fills with a youthful crowd The deep, L-shaped restaurant supports two busy bars. Banquette and booth seating may be a bit low for comfort, but its all taken anyway. The food warrants the crowds. The chicken soup is soul-stirring, a virtual stew with diced breast meat, vegetables and roasted soba noodles. The Globes pizzettes are popular, but we find the best finger food the interesting mixed satay of peanut-marinated chicken, orange beef and spicy sausage. As a main dish, braised short ribs garnished with great horseradish-mashed potatoes, crisp onions and green beans will satisfy any appetite with gusto. Desserts are uniformly over the top. For a laugh, try the Yodel, a cream-filled devils food cake shaped like an alp. Service at The Globe is pleasant and efficient, but brace yourself for a major din, augmented by canned music.
