THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Globe Venice Restaurant Review:

Globe Venice, born in the spot made famous by its previous tenant, 72 Market Street, sees seasoned restaurateurs Joseph Manzare and Mary Klingbeil installing their cuisine and chef-friendly groove in this funky neighborhood steps from the beach. Stints at L'Orangerie, Spago and The Royalton in New York led Manzare to his own ventures, Globe in San Francisco then Mucca in Sonoma's wine country. We find his latest effort offering the grilled meats, fish and homemade pastas for which he's known. Service lacks professionalism while the food amounts to competent, and pricey, home cooking. Starters include roasted beet salad with avocado and feta cheese, and baked mussels, rock shrimp and bay scallops with Thai basil. Half-rotisserie chicken with three-citrus sauce, braising greens and potato purée, and grilled salmon on boccacino pasta with watercress aglio e olio are main courses complemented by a few pizzas and sides. Klingbeil is responsible for the wine list that is strong on local selections. The open bar up front makes for a fun hang out for locals.
