Great Basin Brewing Co. Restaurant Review:
Great Basin has been creating beer for more than 20 years, and its food is as tasty as its brews, something not usually found in a brewpub. Originally opened in Sparks, Nev., in 1993, this Reno location debuted in 2010. Many of the house-made specialties are flavored with the signature Ichthyosaur Pale Ale, including pizza with the Icky pizza crust cooked in a wood-fired oven and half-pound Angus burgers infused with the Icky IPA. The options veer from typical pub fare to more exotic creations such as jambalaya, a La Flaca rice bowl and salmon tacos. You’ll have almost as much trouble choosing a beer as you will deciding on dinner, which is why the four-ounce samplers are a good option. Seasonal ingredients lead to daily specials, which are complemented by seasonal brews. Don't miss the house Nevada Gold, Wild Horse Ale, the nutty Jackpot Porter and the Wheeler Peak Wheat. Once you discover your favorite, take a growler home to enjoy later.
