THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Grey Lady Restaurant Review:
Even if you didn’t know that the Grey Lady has its roots in New York City’s Lower East Side and on the island of Nantucket off Cape Cod, you’d guess as much the moment you walked in. The interior combines weathered coastal and clubby urban elements to super-cool effect, while the kitchen brings big-city verve to bear on New England-style seafood. Lobster is everywhere --- in chowder and pasta and brunchtime eggs Benedict. So, of course, are oysters and clams, be they raw, fried or baked. Tuna tartare with pink peppercorn crème fraîche and octopus tostadas bring the funk. But for the occasional cocktail made with local spirits or dish special featuring local produce, you could be forgiven for forgetting you were in the mountains at all --- unless, that is, you’re soaking up the high-desert sun out on the patio.
