Guantanamera Restaurant Review:
Named for a famous Cuban song, this Hell’s Kitchen eatery has an atmosphere that’s as lively as the food is tasty. Live (and loud) Cuban music gets heads bobbing and the dishes get the taste buds tingling. Guantanamera offers the usual Cuban standards---ropa vieja (skirt steak in garlic sauce) and arroz con pollo criollo (yellow rice with shredded chicken), for example---but the menu really beats with some of the more uncommon dishes: plantains stuffed with shrimp that’s been cooked in a tangy tomato sauce, saffron-laced meatballs, tender oxtail stew, and seafood-loaded casserole. And if the music and munchies don’t get you moving, there’s a long list of fruit-infused mojitos that most certainly will.
